Al Chapman

I first met Al when I performed for the Alberta Touring Arts Alliance when I was 11 years old. I remember it perfectly - I sat at one end of a long table, and Al was at the other end, with a bunch of other ATAA reps in between. They were critiquing my performance. Al was more interested in what my grades and interests were, and if my music was interfering with my education or spare time. I've always respected Al from that day forward. He was very straightforward with me, and I respect that thoroughly. He's someone I can trust as a brother, or even a father! Funny, a really special thing about Al that I've noticed is that he's always advising me to sing age-appropriate songs. It's made an impression on me, because every time I consider a new song to sing, I wonder what Al would think about it. Al has helped me enormously throughout my career, and I'm extremely grateful for that. Thanks so much, Al, for everything!
