A Special Guitar

A few years ago I was playing a show date in Calgary. My road crew inadvertently neglected to put my guitar on the bus. I did not find this out until we had arrived at our next engagement, a great distance away. Calling back to the venue I had played the evening before, I was told that there was no guitar there. The guitar had been stolen!

The following year when I returned to Calgary for an engagement, my friend Chuck Irvin was singing one of his songs back stage. It caught my eye that the guitar he was playing looked familiar. When I looked more closely at the guitar, I recognized it as being my guitar, the one that had been stolen a year earlier when I was in Calgary. Telling Chuck my story, he informed me that he had bought the guitar at a pawn shop a year ago.

The next time I saw the guitar was a year or so later. Chuck had given the guitar to Michael Carey, a talented young country singer from Central Alberta. It's a special guitar! I wrote a number of hit songs on that guitar! My only wish is that it helps to inspire Michael on his Road to Success!
