*Once again, Michael was presented with academic honours from his school.
Michael is working to graduate one year early.
*Michael hosted the Innisfail stop of the Global Country Rising Stars Tour.
The show was quickly sold out. He was proud to introduce the incredible
talents of Rising Stars- Brett Kissel, Leah Durelle, Shawn and Dee Oulette,
Tiffany Dowhan and Katie Mission. Gord Bamford was there to support and to
open and close the show. Many thanks to the all star band who backed
everyone perfectly. Billy Ringo (Lead Guitar). Matt Atkins (Drums). Paul
Faber (Bass) and Craig Learmont (keyboard).
Michael will be opening for Randy Bachman's "Every Song Tells a Story" concert.

The Youth Emergency Shelter Society nominated Michael Carey and
Samantha King for a Philanthropy award in Edmonton.

An Honours With Distinction award was presented to Michael from
his high school.

The Arts Touring Alliance of Alberta requested Michael to
showcase in Banff as their Alumni Young Albertan for their 25th
anniversary.
CCMA Update - 9/7/2002
Michael Carey was exceptional during his CCMA Showcase. Most of the
musicians Michael asked to accompany him were people he'd toured with in
the past. On lead Guitar- his bother Cale. On bass guitar/vocals- his high
school friend Keith Rempel. On Drums- a mentor Scott Thompson. 3rd harmony
vocals- Global Countrys Melanie Sinclair. On Pedel Steel- a mentor, Billy
Bird. On fiddle, mando and acoustic guitar- Mike Sanyshyn (CCMA nominee for
fiddler of the year). Mike and the band had a great time and the fun
feeling of his set was shared by the audience.
Michael and Randy Bachman will now be heading back to Nashville in November

Michael Carey was selected to showcase during the recent CCMA Country Music Week held in Calgary, Alberta on Sept 7th. Michael was chosen out of hundreds of high quality submissions for one of the coveted showcase slots scheduled during Country music week.

NASHVILLE UPDATE! - 05/15/02
Michael Carey's visit to Nashville was fantastic! Randy Bachman showed
Michael around Music Row and introduced him to some of the best producers,
publisists and writers Nashville has. A HUGE thank you goes out to Randy
for believing in Michael as much as he does. It was a huge leap forward in
Michael's music career as he was truly loved by all. A very productive and
fun visit indeed.
