What do Randy Bachman and 14-yr old country and western singer Michael Carey have in common? "We're both prairie kids," laughs Randy Bachman. Well that, and musical talent that you could bet the farm on.

Born in Edmonton and raised in central Alberta, Michael Carey has been amazing audiences with his voice since he was five years old. With the production deal he has just signed with Canadian rock musician, producer and songwriter, Randy Bachman, his voice will soon be heard by audiences far and wide.

" I literally can't believe, every time Michael opens his mouth, the sound that comes out," says Bachman, who has been responsible for producing multi-gold and platinum artists in the past. "He's only 14 and he sounds like he is 30!"

The pair first collaborated in the spring of 2001, after Bachman heard a recording of the young singer, and wanted to hear him in person. Carey traveled to Bachman's studio near Vancouver, British Columbia and sang some of Bachman's unrecorded songs. "He did such an amazing job, he took those songs and made them sound like his own."

" Michael has what it takes, both as a vocalist and as an individual who shows the discipline and determination that is needed to go the distance in the music business," says Bachman.

They have already recorded five tracks together and are currently deciding on further material to record for Carey's debut CD release. Bachman will travel to Carey's home in Alberta soon to work with him on song ideas, with the objective of co-writing material that reflects Carey's own experience and highlights his musical talents.

While working on the CD, Bachman will be soliciting interest from labels within Canada and the USA, looking for the best home for this promising young talent.
